About
Nomaki Etsu is a designer specializing in object design, blending industrial processes with traditional handcraft techniques. He primarily uses furniture to express his holistic sense of understanding of the living world, particularly through the levels of architecture, artifacts, and visuals.

Beyond the field of design, Nomaki embraces art as a way of sensing the flow of being—through literature, performance, and sound. His studio practice is rooted in questioning and critical reflection, focusing on reimagining the existing environment and challenging prevailing norms of living to propose alternative perspectives.

Nomaki has lived in both Japan and China before coming to the U.S. for his college education. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in 3D Design from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Product Design from Parsons School of Design.
