Crane Mosaic is a bespoke furniture collection designed for a reception pavilion in Baihe Town, Shanghai, China, serving e-commerce staff from Saudi Arabia. The collection reflects a harmonious blend of curved and linear geometric forms, inspired by both Saudi architectural traditions and the pavilion’s contemporary aesthetic. Crafted primarily from limestone and marble, the furniture draws from the rich cultural heritage of Saudi architecture, which often employs stone and brick, and reinterprets these materials with a modern sensibility.
The set includes three types of furniture: two large tea tables, a coat hanger, and a trio of floor lights. The tables, measuring 1 meter in width and 3 to 4 meters in length, feature bases carved from limestone, echoing the grandeur of Saudi domed structures, with elegant marble tabletops. The hanger combines limestone, granite, and brass, showcasing a staggered interplay of textures and curvatures. Finally, the floor lights, with subtle variations in form, diffuse light through marble openings and gaps, creating a soft, ambient glow. Together, these pieces celebrate a seamless fusion of cultural inspiration, materiality, and contemporary design.
